6.4 block heater cord routing and location lots of pics

Well thought I would get busy and snap some shots of the block heater cord as it is starting to cool down now. The element is already in the block so if you don't have the cord then that would be the only expense.

I don't have the part # but your local international dealer or Ford can get it for you or if you don't mind a few day turn around and a fair price talk to Ed at www.partsguyed.com.

Not the best pics so don't shoot me. I also tried to place them in sequence from the front bumper back to the element. This is all on the passenger side running along the frame all the way back to just above the starter.

If you are gonna do it yourself then you could use some zip ties and tie it along with the other stuff routing there as well. I would suggest you buy some of the same wire protector stuff that is covering most of the wires in the eng bay as well.

As the wire comes from behind the coil springs housing is has changed color to that of a silver color. That is basically to deflect some of the engine heat so I think you could also pick some of that up at the parts store as well.

Hope this helps and if I have made an errors let me know.

Here is a different pic so you can see. # 27 is the element, 28 is the cord.

I thought MD came with it already...Bummer. Good write up though.

There have been some that didn't and then a few folks have asked me about it.

Thanks!

Is this cord a two piece unit? I'm sure I've got the heater, but can't find the 120V plug; it does look like there's is a different plug near the frame rail though. If it is a two piece cord, can you get them separately?

senix 09-17-2010 12:29 PM

it is a two piece, near the front where the 110 plug is at, there is a connection for the piece that goes all the way back.

did you look at the passenger side, just inside the lip of the bumper for the cord?

bterry 09-17-2010 12:35 PM

Yes I have. The forward piece isn't there. I've had the bumper off to install my plow. I wonder if EdThePartsGuy can get me just the front piece?

Calling Ed, come in Ed.

Well wonder if the rest is with the bumper?

So you think Ed has radar?

PM him.

Ha. The truck looked better with the bumper on so I put it back and the plug is still not there. Maybe he does!

Wow. See that senix - he does have radar! Sorry if I've highjacked your nice write-up. Ed, can you get me the front half of the wiring with the 120V plug? Thanks.
