what offset and backspacing is required for 02 f250 superduty
 

Hi, have a 2002 f250 4x4 superduty, it looks levelled... going to purchase new wheels 18x9 and tires 33x12.50x18 what correct offset and backspacing should i be looking for on the wheels, before i purchase?.....thanx in advance for all the responses.

When I put new wheels and tires on my 2002 F350 SRW CC 4x4 with a 4" Superlift suspension back in 2005, I got American Eagle Alloys Series 114 in 17x10 (don't think they have them anymore - similar to the new Series 197 in looks). Those wheels had 4.65" backspacing and -20mm offset. Put 35x12.50R17 Super Swamper Truxus MTs on. They fit perfectly within the wheel well. NO rubbing at all.

If you get 18x9s look for 4.5" backspacing with -11mm offset. Should be OK with the 33s. You may be able to get 35s on. If you go with 18x10s look for 4.5" backspacing with -24mm offset.

Do you want the tires even with the fender, stick out, or stay covered to keep the truck clean? With a 12.5" wide tire, a -6 offset will put the tread just about flush with the top of the fender. Stock offset is +6. -25 will stick out about 1" and the further they stick out, the more the tire moves forward and back when turning so it increases your chance of rubbing. Hey great set up, the 12.50 wide looks nice and is the look im after... im thinking an 18x9 wheel and say a 305x60x18 tire.... my only concern is that i like to tow a 7x12 cargo trailer for my quads and bikes, sometime in the future i will also purchase a small 18-22 ftr travel trailer as well, so what size lift and tires would be the best...its a v10 auto, with 3:73gears... 33'' with stock suspension or 35'' with a 4'' lift ???

If you aren't going to regear, stick with 33s. You can fit the 305/60r18 without a lift or leveling kit if you stick with offset in the 0 to -6 range. In my pics above, the top pic has 18x10 wheels and the lower is 16x8. 305/60r18 would fit well on an 18x9, just be sure you get E-rated tires.

You can run 35's without regearing, just no bigger. In 05 they started coming stock with 35's (in metric terms though) on the same tranny and gear ratios. I have a question though: I want to run 295/70R18 nitto terra grapplers on 18x9 Eagle Alloy Series 079, which have a -12 offset. Will this rub and do you know about how they will look in relation to the fender wells? Thanks man, I've started like 5 threads trying to find this out and no one has answered yet so you seem to know your stuff, hopefully you can help.

Two things to correct here. First, he has a V10, not a diesel, so even stock tire size should really have 4.10s preferably. Second, they do not have 35" tires stock. In '05 they stepped up to 33" from 32" on some wheels and in '08 they started using 34" tires on some wheels, but never have they used 35" tires.

Sorry I have the bad habit of assuming diesel on here. But I have two friends with 06's, one with 18" wheels and the other with 20" wheels and they both convert to 34.some-random-decimal which is the same as a 35" tires's true diameter. With a tape measure, the front tires measure 33-3/4" with the full weight if the diesel. I'd say they're 35" tires. Just looking at them they even look WAY bigger than my tires and mine are actually a little bigger than stock. Maybe V10s are different. But do you have any insight on my question?

They'll be real close, but probably will not rub. With -12mm offset the tread of a 295 will be just about flush with the fender edge at the top. I have 315s on -6mm wheels and they are just about flush, maybe a hair outside.

FWIW I have 17x8.5 wheels with 4.5" backspacing (roughly -6 offset) and they rub on the spring on a full lock turn. 35x12.5x17 BFG KMD2 MT tires. I personally wouldn't go with anymore backspacing than 4.5".

My 315/75r16 (roughly 35x12.50) on -6mm wheels is over 1" from the springs at full lock and the 35x12.50 MTs I had before on -12mm wheels was 3/4" away at full lock.

Finally...got my wheels and tires :-dancing1 ...ok heres what i ended up getting 20x9 american eagle 079 superfinish black wheels, with -12 offset on bfg 275x65x20 all/ta tires they do rub the back plastic wheelwell walls where the mudflaps are attached rubbing is minor but annoying any solutions... can this be trimmed or removed. I will try to post some pics if i can figure out how lol... thanx to you all for your valuable input and tires measure 34x11x20

I'm really surprised those are rubbing, are you sure those are -12mm offset?
