Hey Sam - Look here - TEST!

1 Attachment(s)
OK,

So I use the photo direct download feature on the thread by clicking the little black photo icon in the upper ruler above (only members have it).

When the "Manage Attachments" tableau opens I click "BROWSE" and the select a photo directly from a file on my computer (like this one of the rose). Then click "UPLOAD."

Finally, I click the arrow next to the "Manage Attachments" icon, click the title of the picture and it inserts.

Attachment 26125

Ok it's 12:15 PM PDT in 15 minutes (12:30) I am going to remove that photo from my computer. And the one on this page should turn into a "Box X."

Lets see

12:29....Ok here we go!

Edit note: Hmmm you were right, it didn't work???!!!???

Let me try something else.

Ok give this one 5 minutes!

sdetweil 07-29-2010 02:38 PM

right.. you can pull it.. when you 'upload' FTE makes a COPY of your image.. and it doesn't know anything about your computer anymore..

I do this all the time.. something else must have happened..
and its coincidence.. weird..

Sam

your first image was uploaded to the FTE attachment directory, under the id of 26152 (generated number) I 'think' d means the linear date (seconds since 1970 ..)

and has nothing to do with your personal computer anymore..

using the d= they will prune the attachment storage if they get full..
notice that they cannot TELL if the attachment came from YOU with this info..

Ok well the second one disappeared. That was one I did a "cut and paste" on the "properties/URL" which is how the galleries were originally built - long before "the upgrade"

I've had problems with the galleries before and Adrian fixed it for me.

There's so many "ins and outs" with photo's here and so many different ways and places to put them.

Long story short, I'll just re do them.

There was a comment in the "Posting Photos" Read Me First, above about downloading files of photos instead of doing them one at a time. I
m going to go back and re read that.

When I started the photo's I had no idea I would be adding so many or what types so they were all intermingled. My files are much more "type" organized. So maybe this time with all the new photos added to the old files, maybe I can be a little more organized.

k, thx.. but I don't understand the words you used "cut & paste on the properties..`"
I understand the technical action, just not the data.. what was pasted?
the location on your hard drive? makes no sense that could work.

I can't find a way to 'copy' anything useful.. (local system url) to paste..

Cut and Paste the URL on the properties table for the photo.....

When it comes to computers, I'm not at all up on the proper nomenclature. I'm one of those people who finds a way to make something work (whether it was intended for that purpose or not) then I stick to it.

So, if I'm not making any sense with computerese, that's nothing new!

We need one of those "Text Translators" to talk to you guys....We put in english and it comes out in "Computer."

I'm probably the only person in the world who can give the guy in India at the troubleshooting desk a headache!

sdetweil 07-29-2010 03:19 PM

ok, on my Win 7, I don't get a chance to get the full filename form the image properties page. and I don't know where you pasted it.. (headache !)..

maybe if you have energy someday, you can take screen shots (alt-prtscrn takes JUST the active window)..

then paste in an outlook email step by step to my private email I provided in the earlier private message.

thanks, and sorry I can't help recover your image links faster,
without you having to post them all again..

Some good information I will file away. By the way - nice rose Julie. From your garden?

Julies Cool F1 07-30-2010 12:19 PM

No it's off the internet - "Oktoberfest."

I wanted to pick a picture I could delete off my computer for the purposes of the experiment and not worry about losing it - so no truck pics.

I recently started relandscaping my ranch and planted 40 roses last winter. I looked at some online before buying so I could get ones I like. I have 2 of these and the flowers look exactly like in the picture!
