clicking noise from front wheels

My 2004 expedition 4x4 is making a loud clicking noise coming from both front wheels. Its only when turning, right or left. It doesn't do it when going straight. The tighter the turn the more constant and louder the clicking gets. I've tried it in both 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive. Makes the same noise in both drives. Anyone have any thoughts on what this might be.

Sounds like your front CV joints are shot.
Is it on all turns, or just really sharp ones?

Its all turns. The sharper the turn the louder and more constant the clicking.

20:1 odds it's the CV shafts. you can do them yourself but it requires a lot of dissasembly of the front end. If you search for my "replacing front hubs" thread, that gives you an idea of what you are in for, just for starters. You still have to get the CV's off! They aren't terribly expensive though - I think they were like $80 a side from autozone....

but, BEFORE you start, make sure you have a 35mm and 36mm socket. the old nut will most likely be 35mm, and the new one 36mm. Go figure. Also, sounds like you might be up there in mileage - might be worth replacing the hubs while you've got it torn apart as well.
