I have a 1963 F250 2 wheel drive Flat bed. I have been unable to find any f250 Flatbeds from 63 that were not 4 wheel drive. Was this an option? If so how rare is it?

Thats what i had thought, but i am finding that if it had a bed, it would have been a unibody. :-huh This truck is definitely a 63 F250 2 wheel drive, and definitely was not a unibody
1961/66 F100/350's available as a Cab & Chassis, with Flareside & Styleside beds, with factory installed Flat & Stake Beds. And as Open Drive-Away's: Chassis & Cowl, Cowl & Windshield, neither of these has a cab. And Uni's: 1961/63 F100/250 2WD's, bed is welded to cab. |

Excepting 1963 Uni's, there's no code within the VIN or stamped on the Warranty Plate that decodes to what type of "back of cab" equipment (if any) these trucks came with. Since the IDIOTS at FoMoCo threw away all the records for these trucks decades ago, the only way to verify...is if you have the original owners paperwork provided by the dealer at the time of sale. |
ND when were the true Ford flatbeds offered? A friend has a restored 66 F350 dually with a flatbed that has Ford stamped in the framework.

Block letters intro'd in 1957 Flat & Stake Beds. Factory installed Platform (Flat) and Platform & Rack (Stake) beds were available beginning in circa 1916 on Model TT one tons. First purpose built Ford pickup: 1925 Model T. Pics of Stake beds, Flat beds similar. Left: 1953/56, 1948/56 truck catalog does not include body parts for 1948/52. Right: 1957/63, 1964/72 same. |
It has the block style. Bed is flat with no headboard and with stake pockets.
Going from memory I don't think the back panel is tapered. I found that Merc you mentioned btw. Just around the corner from the lighthouse. |

Hey Number Dummy, I remember a 1969 F100 long bed, orange, with a black vinyl top,( VINYL) as I recall. automatic in the floor w bucket seats.
A older dairy farmer drove it to town . What was it ? I have only read part of this entire post , interesting. |

C7AZ-19500-Y White & C7AZ-19500-Z Black .. Wrinkle Roof Paint FoMoCo offered an optional or dealer installed accessory white or black "spray-on look-a-like" vinyl top for all 1967/72 FoMoCo vehicles. |

The most recent, last week, also was posted on Craigslist but sold the next day. Having looked at all three vin plates the only similar codes are the E81 body codes. All three trux all had special order numbers after the DSO code. These three were not RANGERS.

Does anyone know of another? Even another F250 with the Ranger package in 65-66? I also think special order paint and special order interior were pretty uncommon. Most of the special order paint trucks I have seen were built in San Jose. |
