fuses blowing

I just had a rear axle seal replaced and new rear brakes. After that my abs light goes on and my blinkers aren't working. I replaced abs sensor and the light is still on. Check the fuses and two are blown #13 and #7. Replace the fuses - does it again. Replaced the turn signal switch still blowing fuses. Question is does this have anything to do with the brakes? I have read up and seems there is problems with the steering wheel wire cluster. Could this have anything to do with the cruise control recall that I haven't had fixed? Another thing is the parking brake doesn't work after getting new brakes. The technician said the cable was too long? Doesn't make sense. 93 7.3 idi 234,000 miles. Any info appreciated

Sounds like they pushed some less than ideal condition brake fluid up in the master cylinder when they installed the new brake shoes.

Parking brake cable to long after new shoes, sounds like something installed incorrectly.
If anything, the cable should have been to short after new shoes were installed.

I would for sure take that thing back and raise hell! Dave is right if anything the parking break cable should feel shorter since you now have new pads and it doesn't need to travel as far to engage itself.

Dave Sponaugle 07-31-2010 02:58 PM

Well even the two short after new pads would be wrong.

The cables do stretch slightly with age.
But the truck had new shoes and new cables at one time, so it only makes sense that they should work again.

More so if the parking brake worked when it went in for service and don't work now.
Somebody either broke something or left something out or have something in the wrong place.

check the mount where the cable from the pedal assembly connects to the two cables going to the wheels. if it bends "or gets bent" parking brakes will not hold. don't ask how i know. lol.
