Dodge/Cummins 07-20-2010 10:03 PM

$55 for 2 years.

Still TOO MUCH!

rustyrelic 07-20-2010 10:32 PM

75 a year with historic plates

SteveBricks 07-20-2010 10:41 PM

Double it and you're pretty close for my '06.

I don't know why your '85 is that much..my '94 F350 was around 250 this year.

joe f350 07-21-2010 11:46 PM

You nailed that one on the head!

Costs for many things in California tend to be higher than a lot of states, even before the economic down-turn. This is part of the reason I probably won't buy a new car again; the sales tax and registrations fees are so high. The other reason is the 20-30% depreciation in the first year, which occurs everywhere. It just doesn't make economic sense for me.

Sorry. Thought I was in the IDI chapter when I posted that and just figured out now that this is the California chapter.:-X05

I knew it was the Kaliphornya chapter, I just had to rub it in.

I just hope anybody from any other western state doesn't speak up since Oregon and Washington suck compared to about anyone out here except Kali.
Oregon is only better in comparison.

It sure isn't cheap, especially with commercial plates. I did'nt have the 178 for my '82 Chevy in February, and neglected to non-op it. Now it'll run me 343 to get tags for it.

It'll sit for awhile!

they seen your truck, figured it would never make it more then another year so they wanted to get the most money out of you as possible haha

I am looking at possibly getting a piece of Chevy LUV truck (1977) and because it has not been registered since 1990 am told it will cost "about" $250. The truck is only going to cost me $400 to buy. Makes no sense to pay half the purchase cost in fees, but this is Kalifornia, and the "fees Police" are not to be trifled with.

oreocreaming 08-14-2010 04:37 PM

if it hasnt been registered since 1990 it should only cost about $150 to get it up to date. its long out of the system so theres no back fees. just cost of transfer and new tags.

oreocreaming 08-14-2010 04:39 PM

dont forget you gotta smog it too.... and the luv isnt chevy at all, its isuzu. its sad.... engine, tranny, rear end. its the same exact motor as the isuzu's. dont recall the name of the isuzu version, but chevy just threw their badges on it. just like isuzu did with the s-10/hombre
