Welcome to the club Incenter12. Another oil burner eh? That 6.9 was a work horse. Used to have one in a fire engine long ago. Great engines.

Good morning everybody and thanks for the welcome.

I stumbled across this truck near my house and was pretty excited to find the old Ford diesel I'd always wanted. It's an '85 F250 XLT Lariat extended cab, 6.9L, 2wd, 4 speed. It's got 137k and is all original. I'm the third owner and the previous owner had it since '88. He would just hook up his RV and drive it to Idaho and back once a year.

Since I've gotten it I have flushed all the fluids except transmission, diff, and power steering (need to get to those), replaced the radiator, removed the camper shell, running boards, and third diesel tank, fixed the tail lights, did the relay mod for the headlights, new fuel return lines, and updated the interior a little bit. The truck already had a 4" exhaust and no soup bowl, updated glow plugs, a slightly new paint job, and a new clutch.

I'm not planning mach more work other than general preventative maintenance. Maybe a 5 speed or overdrive in the future. It's got 4.10's now so it screams on the highway.

I've been in the area for a little over a year now and work at the base. So far it's been a good time.

Cheers.

Welcome to the forum. And that is one nice looking truck. I like that particular generation of full size Ford trucks. Maybe one day I will actually own one.
