MPG on 2011 super duty 6.7

Any one been tracking their miles per gallon on the 6.7?

rickatic 07-10-2010 07:57 AM

There is a thread on this just below yours titled "Real life city mileage...". Many of us have contributed our mileage figures to that thread. My truck is running at better than 19mpg combined driving with 3300 miles on the clock. It gets better every mile I drive it.

Regards

6.7 SD Fuel Mileage

Sure I've got 15.5,17.3 and 16.6 MPG on my first 3 fill ups I think the mileage on the 1st fill up is a little low cause the dealer didn't top it off . I've been driving with a soft foot to try and see how good of MPG numbers I could get

cummins cowboy 11-08-2010 02:58 PM

the improvement on MPG for the 2011's is REAL my truck is getting 10% better towing mileage and 20-22% better mileage on the highway than my '06 dodge was getting which BTW didn't have near the emissions controls that the newer trucks have. so if you are comparing a 07 and up truck of any of the big 3 makes, I think you are going to see a big time increase in mileage with the 2011, possibly 30-40% maybe more.

its possible the 2011's could actually be the most fuel efficient diesel truck that I know of. my old '93 cummins was the fuel mileage king, but it was single cab and 2WD, if you put the engine from my truck into a single cab truck that light, it could likely beat that truck for fuel mileage, I think it actually would. thats amazing.

I'm getting right at 18 mpg, doing mostly small trips. This truck's got my old 6.4 beat hands down. I can't say enough about my 6.7.

nice welcome to your first post. I read the thread cause I was curious also. as 1000 of my 1600 miles have been towing. I drove to go bird hunting today without a trailer and got 17.2 MPG. I am very pleased with that.

that first post was 4 months ago, too... and no posts since. meh.

people shouldn't be pleased with MPG numbers found on trucks from 20 years ago.
emissions smog crap or not.sorry, but i expect the modern engine to walk all over yesteryear's fuel economy.
one day when these silly "power" wars are over.maybe then we can see some fuel economy wars.
there are some people who live in places with 45 mph average speed limits.a straight 6 diesel option with half of 400hp/800 lb would be more than enough.
if the manufactures wont provide these options, someone will have to step in and demand they do for us.in fact, they should have years ago.

I've just filled up for the 4th time and have been averaging about 17 MPG mixed city/highway (not towing and still using stock wheels and tires). On my last tank of fuel the computer said 17.3. Hand calculated it was 16.7.

I usually have an eye on the instant MPG window which encourages me to stay light on the pedal... only rarely do I get on it.

I'm hoping the numbers will improve but as of now its about 30% better than my 03' 6.0 Dually... so... I'm pretty happy.

2011 6.7 MPG

Hey guys just joined the site I have a brand new f-350 6.7l and I drive it every day to work and back about 160 miles a day have had the truck 6 months and already have 21000 miles on it. I here everyone talking about the great mileage this thing is getting but it seems like a bunch of B.S. I get barely fifteen MPG and Im all highway what am I doing wrong?

rats 07-11-2011 10:58 AM

Don't forget there are extremes to every trip and or driving style.
I have never reset my "trip B" in the computer my overall average after 4000 miles is 14.1 MPG. Not real impressive but better than the last vehicle I had. 3000 of these miles are highway, but in my case interstate traffic is 75mph. I've gotten 18+ empty with the wind on my back but the overall Trip B is my only true indicator.:-blah

ruschejj 07-11-2011 10:58 AM

1. Driving style
2. You have a 3.55 rear gear?
3. Unloaded?
4. Dually?

5. It's a 10,000 pound truck commuting 800 miles/week with no load or trailer? 15 is not bad, could be in the 18 range, depends on your set up and weight and driving style.

jim48 07-11-2011 11:13 AM

19.1-19.5 mpg for me. I drive 60 mph. 4.10 reared. 9.1-12.5 mpg towing 12,000 lb. 5er same 60 mph.

cirrus365 07-11-2011 11:33 AM

10.3mpg average towing 10k+ over 2000 miles.
14.5-15.5 in town
18 or so highway.
I am heavy footed.
