Welcome to FTE LittleBitPine, with the Holiday weekend things may be slow. You can ask in the engine specific forum for your carburetor question also. Click Here

Thank you Maximum4x4,
My question is,
I have a motorcraft w/a tag on it . What does this mean? what type is it ?what is my CFM? My book shows nothing and it is a 2barrel . It is a square metal tag by my electric choke. thank you

I will send in some help, a person that knows part numbers very well, he should be able to explain it.

Welcome to FTE

ID number: D8SE-FA = Ford part number: D8PZ9510BN .. 2V Motorcraft Carburetor (Motorcraft CA2609).

Original applications: 1978 LTD II/Ranchero/Thunderbird/Cougar 351M / Installed in CA vehicles only.

F = Assembly Plant Code / 8A25 = Assembled January (A) 25, 1978 (8).

I cannot give you the CFM, as the 1973/79 Ford Passenger Car Parts Catalog doesn't list this information.

You have a 351M (M-Modified) engine. There is no such thing as a 351W (W-Windsor) Modified.

351M's were assembled at the Cleveland OH engine plant, 351W's were assembled at the Windsor, Ontario Canada engine plant.
