What size snap ring plier for front 4x4 hub?
Am attempting to remove front hubs on my 05 f250.
The snap ring pliers I have are too small. Purchased an internal/external pair at Sears and they're too wide to fit inside the hub. Can anyone let me know what size internal snap ring pliers are required to remove the hub snap ring or better yet what make/model of snap ring pliers they successfully used to remove the snap ring. Any info appreciated. tks, George |
They're manual hubs...not the esof automatic on the fly type.

I use a set of snap-on that I have, sorry dont have an item number. Whatever set you get, they better be STOUT. That snap ring is a prettty serious snap ring LOL

Thanks for the reply 06silvercrew. They do appear to be quite stout. I'll look at the
Snap on line and see what they offer. Thanks again. Geo |

I realize that I just replied to an almost 7 year old post, but somebody's got to be able to tell us where to get a simple set of snap ring pliers
|
Hey bud try proto 377 not pronto

All I can say is DOH. I should maybe proof read. Sorry

Now that I got spell check to quit changing it I'm still getting nothing coming up with a snap ring plier using proto. At least I have been able to hold the Sears in my hand, and it's only 25bux

Why don't you take a look at harbor freight tools, they have 3 different sets and very reasonable price. Mind you these are not for PRO work, they are for DIY and may only last a few times before they become wore out. read the reviews.

I surfed Harbor Freight here in Mesa. Found about 3 sets. Describe them as Fisher Price Far East offshore quality at best. Cost less than 5 bucks and in no way adequate for the job. I've done two of these removals. One on my 2005 and one of my sons 2006. So 4 clips removed and 4 clips installed. So I am "experienced with the process". Just wished I had bought the seal driver tool, as now we have to redo both trucks due to leaking seals. Harbor Freight sets were both way to short to reach the clips which are at least 3 inches inside the hub, and no way strong enough or have enough spread to do the job
