6.7 Oil Change

A few days ago we had a 6.7 come into the shop for its 1st oil change. The truck was great and was pulling a huge trailer which the owner droped off in the parking lot. The truck got 16 mpgs towing and 21 empty. I was very impressed by the truck and all the cool stuff it had. Then it came time to get under it. I saw a yellow thing coming out of the oil pan. It was the plug and it was plastic!?!?! I didnt know anything about this. Is the pan also plastic? I couldnt tell since it was so hot I didnt touch it and didnt think about tapping it with the wrench. You just barely turn the plug and it pulls out then is easily put back in. I dont think they will last. Some of our parts guys came out then went back in and ordered a few oil plugs thinking they will break. I know Ford said they cut weight on the 6.7 but I didnt think they meant this way. I also put in DEF too. Very easy oil change if anyones curious. Just shocked about the plastic plug and maybe pan? Someone tell me its ok..........please!

Maybe the plug is plastic and its ment to be replaced at oil change?

We need a video. Can someone grab their phone and record this thing?

Next question: Anyone use Fumoto valves before or put one on the 2011 yet? Will it work in place of the quarter-turn do-hickey?

I dont think so, but I do think people will be breaking them like crazy though. Even though it was plastic it was pretty long and well thought out. I dont want people to think its crappy or anything like that I just dont know much about these yet. So if anyone else knows something tell some more.

Anyone going in soon for a oil change?

i don't believe that plastic will rust out like are old steel pans did.
