Guzzles in tank mod

Is this the in tank mod most of you have done?

When you guys have done the in tank mod, where have you gotten the stainless tubing. Do auto parts stores carry it? Or do you really need to use stainless?

What sort of prepump filter are most useing? Inline?

Thanks, Ken

Thanks Guys.

Well i was looking around and found the ITP kit with filter. I thought i had seen this a while back.

I am leaning toward the ITP kit for simplicity of getting it all in a box and put it in.

Have folks been satisfied with the kit? I am just a bit concerned about the filter location and lasting under the truck.

Thanks, Ken

I just bought the kit(less filter). I didn't feel like searching around for the parts .. ITP had everything i needed ITP 7.3L Fuel Tank / Pre-Pump Kit

You will need this cheap tool to get the lines disconnected at the the tank. Autoparts store. Pic 2.. Pic 3 shows the inner workings of that hose connection you need the tool for.. Pic 4 is a cheap filter i ran for a while. Pic 1 is the glass filter. Had/have this on my dads truck and mine for sometime now.. No problems. easy to see and clean out. Got one of these glass filters on my tractor for over 10 years.. Love it. Didn't know they made a 3/8 version until izzy pointed it out.

If you are going to go with a kit, Diesel Innovations had theirs for $25 last I looked

That is some good information there, thanks for that, I'll be ordering a kit very soon. I believe I'm starting to have a pickup and air problem.

Dan, do you know what that tool is called? I am doing the in-tank mod this weekend and am trying to get all the parts and pieces together.

I'm the other Dan, but that is a fuel filter release tool.

I have been satisfied. He gave me a rough kit for the Excursions and I thought it was going to be a mess. Turns out what he labeled as a prototype was actually better than some of the complete kits that many over vendors sell.

I would recommend it. I drain my fuel filter every now and then especially in winter to make sure there is no water in the fuel. Filter in the engine bay is pretty clean last time I took it out. Should I ever get crud in the tank, all filters are out so it will get trapped in the filter. Spin off and start again.

I like the looks of the ITP kit and the price seems reasonable. What would be the difference between this and the Airdog kit?
