This is a 79, and I am guessing they would be pretty close to yours. I would get a paint shop to paint them on, and then you don't have to worry about fading, cracking, or peeling.
If your a stickler for original, a sign shop could cut them for you as long as you have pictures, and measurements http://i540.photobucket.com/albums/g...DSCF0010-3.jpg |
ah, they were gold and orange origionaly. mine didnt have the center trim, if it did i would'nt wanna add the strips back..

Make them any color you like

For '79 there are several part numbers that are required. It also depends on where the truck was built.
Stripe kit, for trucks built at other than Michigan Truck Plant, Tangerine & Gold, Regular Cab D9TZ-1020000-DE This is for the cab forward. There is a different pn for the bed stripe kit. Let me know if you have a short or long bed, w or w/o aux. fuel. and I can get you the p/n's you need to look for. Also the trucks built at Detroit take a different kit (??)! Whats the 5th character of your VIN? |
Just did a check of Green Sales inventory, they have 9 of the D9TZ-1020000-DE stripe kits in stock (513) 731-3304

From the picture of your truck it looks like you have a long bed, the stripe kit for the bed is
p/n D9TZ-9920000-GA This is for w/o aux. fuel. Green Sales has one. If your truck was built at the Michigan plant Green Sales has none of the cab stripe sets (D9TZ-1020000-ADE) and one of the bed kits (D9TZ-9920000-AGE). |
WOW!< nice information.

I would certainly think a 30 year old set of stripes would have some problems, whether it be shrinking, cracking, disintegrating or? Unless they were "hermetically sealed in a mayonnaise jar and been stored on Funk & Wagnalls' porch since 1979"
|
I would think someone is reproducing these stripes by now.
You might try Auto Krafters site-they seem to do most of the Ford ones. |

Except the seller still wanted a premium for them. And for what? They couldn't used. I would use a sign shop. Josh |
