Valley pan

My valley pan drain plug is missing....where can I get a new one or what else can I use.....it is just a bolt with RTV around it?

hmmmm, thats a new one. I didnt know they needed plugs, guess mine is missing too. Let me see, the guys at ford sell them and so does a parts store here called lordco. similar to all the states parts stores. They have the "gasket" and the kit comes with silicone, a rubber grommet for the cdr hole but nothing else. Does it need to be plugged? Should it be? Ford cant seem to figure that one out, anyone?

That's all mine came with, valley pan and CDR grommet, but then a saw the extra hole and started looking around and found out that's the valley pan drain and on autozone.com's repair guide it says there is a valley pan drain plug, just by looking it looks like a bolt just screws in the hole but I don't know

The "Drain bolt" is the retaining bolt that holds down the valley pan. It is a broached 3/8 drive hole with a small hole to drain water or fuel from the valley. It's located in the rear center of the pan. On an original pan may be harder to locate the bolt because it's probably filled with gunk.

Thanks crewdually! :-X22

I'll just go run out to lowe's and get a bolt to fit.

well **** maybe that is where a lot of my "mess" is coming from. That would explain a lot!
