Big Brown...Excursion flat on the ground
I bought this 2001 Ford Excursion 10 months ago for 6k, with 120,000 miles on it.
I wanted a Ford SUV that is normally lifted, and to do the opposite. Some people dont agree with lowered trucks, but I love how they look on the ground. It fits all my needs, a huge SUV that can haul the family around town and has a ton of room inside for anything else. So I have pictures of it stock.... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/PB180220.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/PB180221.jpg Without the side steps... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/PB290224.jpg Next to my old Mazda B2200... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/PB290250.jpg Bought Dub 26 inch wheels weeks later... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/PC040278.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/PC040267.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/PC040276.jpg Been at Lowboy Motorsports for 8 months... You can see the updated front end (not bolt on like I hoped)... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/IMG_0592.jpg The rear tucks nicely... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/IMG_0446.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/IMG_0441.jpg The firewall needed to be cut in order for the tires to go this far... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...irewallcut.jpg Bigg Brown |
So I hope to be driving it pretty soon. I havent been a member of this site very long so I dont know what reaction I will get. But dont worry, I am not easily offended. I have heard it all in different forums. I hope a few people enjoy looking at the build pics and I will post them up as long as someone cares to see them.
There are also more pics at the shops website.... 2001 EXCURSION |

Wow all out you even changed the front end to the 08 style! My bud Jim would love this project.
|
Its about time! Could you post pics of the front suspension? I know it won't lay out on beams. I was looking into mustang II style but can't find anything beefy enough to hold up a 7.3.
I love what what you have done and I appoligize ahead of time for the million questions. |
What are you doing for an exhaust? Can't exactly put a stack on an X.
|
Id guess dumped in front of the wheel in the wheel well. It seems to be a gasser so it wont very big.
|
Not my style, but I definitely don't hate it!
I'd like to see some pics of the inside and cutting you had to do to tuck those tires up in there like that. |
thats awesome, i love big trucks on the ground, very cool

As far as exhaust goes, thought about none, but if there is...just like rat stated straight and dumped out in front of rear wheel.
Also rat, Fords arent really engineered to go low, but chevys are...so chevy hd parts were used in place of the beams. So here are some inside pics of the front suspension....thanks for all the comments http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/DSC_0427.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/DSC_0426.jpg More had to be cut.. http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/DSC_0422.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/DSC_0421.jpg http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/DSC_0420.jpg This will be at full lift.... http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...n/DSC_0432.jpg |
