Correct route for wiring harness on Upfitter switches

I just installed a set of upfitter switches on my truck but I am not convinced on the route that I pulled the wiring harness. There is a diagram available on the 2008 and newer trucks but I can not find anything for the my 2006. The harness comes with hangers built in but I can not figure out the where they clip into.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you got it in there, and it is not interfering with the radio or cup holder, you are probably okay. I am certain I did not get mine exactly right either. I think it should have been routed up higher at the radio area, and it was hitting the cup holder a little so I just tie wrapped it up.

I wrote this, but I doubt if it will help you at this point.

Installing Upfitter Switches - Ford 2005-2007 Superduty

That's a real nice write-up, Bill. Too bad I can't rep you. I wish someone had something like this for the '03s. I know you can install them even though the were not an option that year. I have a set in the garage waiting for a nice day to throw them in.

Sent the reps for you Brad ......

All these years and I do not think I ever read your up-fitter write-up Bill (I assume you wrote it some time ago). It is great. Thanks!

I have an '05 excursion. The dash configuration is different so I would assume that this harness will not fit my truck. Am I correct in this? Sure is a nice set-up and way easier than plumbing everything myself.

Thanks for the reps, guys. I hope some find the info useful.

Dave, I don't know too much about the Excursion heritage. But if your dash is different, then I suspect Ford did not upgrade the Exc in '05 like they did the Superduty. Makes sense, since '05 was the last year for the Exc and it would have been an orphan configuration. So assuming it is like the '04 and earlier Superduty, there is a thread in the Superduty tech folder about adding the switches to the older trucks.

Bill
Thanks for the right up, I wish I would have had it before I did mine.

I think to get mine in on the route you took I would need to pull out my stereo, there are too many loose cables back there to make through.

If you look at the seventh photo in your write up, look at the upper left corner of the glove box opening. See the opening between the metal frame and the plastic trim, that is the route I took. There happens to be a couple more of those type of openings across the dash (I pulled the trash bag holders as well).

My problem is when I got to the drivers side I had all this extra harness and I knew I went the wrong way.

I had to go up past and over the steering column near the fire wall to get rid of some slack before coming back to the fuse box.

I saw a nice routing diagram from Ford for the 08's and newer but no such diagram for our trucks.

Bill nice write up, and if I ever get around to it I might pull all of my dash apart and route this thing properly.
