extending a fuel filler neck to fit a flatbed

i put a flatbed on my 93 f-250 last summer. the fuel filler neck on both the front and rear tanks are about 3-4 inches too short to reach the flatbed sides. i've just been letting them hang which means they both drip constantly. i priced out fuel filler neck hose and its about 25 dollars a foot. i need about 6 feet to extend the necks out to where they need to be. the fuel filler necks are between 65 and 120 apiece. i found a 6 inch piece of filler neck hose on www.lmctruck.com p/n 43-3354 that looks like it extends the necks on a '80-96 f-series but i have to buy a freaking $35 coupler p/n 43-3356 to make it work. i need to do that on both tanks. it looks like what i need but i'm not even sure if its right.

so what do y'all do for those who have installed flabeds on your trucks.

Could you just split the hose somewhere and add a length of exhaust pipe or other tube to extend it? Is the vent tube still external on that year truck?

I used stainless steel exhaust tubing to extend mine.
Go to a muffler shop and see if they have any scrap pieces laying around, you maybe able to get it free or at least cheap.
