New to the ford game

So about a month or two ago i bought a 74 f250 4x4 and am interested in joining the louisiana chapter. so what exactly is the chapter all about?

The chapter is about Ford trucks & their owners. We help each other with repairing & modifying them. Plus we try to get together to check out our trucks & have fun. I'm fairly new so I haven't made a La meet yet. I did make several in Tenn. Hopefully our chapter leader will be able to fill you in with more info.

breedo99, Sorry, I just found your message, as lariat said in his post, the chapter is for Ford truck owners and enthusiasts, the pupose is fellowship amongst members, hopefully sharing tech info and having GTGs to meet up with each other, maybe a little party and a cookout ever once in a while, since our members are so spread out across the state, it has been hard to arrange a GTG that will work for everyone, but if you need info or just want to chat, just post up, and I'll bet you get some replys that could be helpful to you.

do yall know of anyone in the state who could help me do a power steering conversion on my 74? its got the power steering assist now and i was told the best way to go is to the steering box of like a 79....any help?

What part of La are you in? I'm in the north west corner. I doubt that change would be hard. You will need the power steering pump, hoses, & gear box to make the swap easy. You might need the steering column too.

i see your in minden...im in ruston

Have you checked out the 73 to 79 forum. Someone there should know what you need to make this swap. Your close. I'm only 40 miles from Ruston. I will look for a 79 parts truck around here. Will 1/2 ton parts work? I figure the pump & hoses are the same. I sold all my old trucks for scrap. I had 5 or 6 parts trucks in the 70 to 79 models. They were about stripped anyway.

I got more info on your power steering swap. A 78 or 79 gear box will work. Go to the 73 to 79 forum. Do a search on your mod. There are 15 or 20 articles on it.

I have to go back to Memphis next week or I would offer to help. If you can wait till I finish painting my house there I will try to help you.
