Removing the transmission

I've done some research on my Haynes manual and also online to see how to remove my transmission on my 81 F100 (C4 or C5?). None of what I've read or seen seems to address my vehicles set up. I have attached two picture below, one of where the drive shaft meets the transmission and the other where the drive shaft meets the differential (drive shaft is one piece). Can someone let me know which bolts need to come off. From what I understand one side is unbolted and the other side pulls out. Thanks for the help in advance.

Unbolt the nuts on the yoke of the rear end (4 of them). Slide the driveshaft into the transmission until it bottoms out, move the shaft out of the way of the rear end yoke and pull the shaft out of the tranny. Make sure you have a pan under the output of the trans or it will be messy with transmission fluid dribbling out.

To pull the transmission
-undo the four nuts on the driveshaft at the rear end

-Slide the drive shaft out of the transmission tail.

-disconnect the battery and remove the starter (2 bolts v-8, 3 bolts 6 cylinder)

-remove the 6 bolts from the bell housing (3 on each side)

-Remove the inspection cover on the transmission(Plate between the transmission and back of the motor)

-undo the torque converter nut in the inspection plate area

- turn the motor at the crank by hand until you see the next torque converter nut (4 nuts total)

-disconnect the 2 transmission lines from the transmission to the radiator

-put a sturdy jack with a piece of 2x6 on top under the transmission pan

- disconnect the transmission mount and undo the bolts on either end of the transmission crossmember.(1 bolt on each side)

-jack the transmission up until the cross member is clear, remove crossmember

- slowly lower the jack and pull back from motor

Thanks a bunch. Below is a picture of where I assume you are talking about removing bolts. Two are shown and there would be two on the other side also. Is that right?
Again, thanks guys for the really detailed instructions. I'm gonna try to rebuild my first transmission. Should be fun.

Thanks

When you get a chance you should check into getting the pinion seal replaced on the differential. In the mean time, keep an eye on the oil level in it. Should be to the bottom of the fill plug which is just behind the "e" in "Correct" above. When it starts making noise the damage has been done...

Having the vehicle on blocks on a hard surface will help. I say blocks as I recently read a story about a broken jack stand. I mean wood blocks, not cinder blocks, too.

Make sure it's SOLID and can't roll or drop.

The jack should be a floor jack type with wheels so you can roll the whole thing back from the engine without lowering it. You can break the case and input shaft set up real easy if you let things drop/hang etc.

Make sure you wrap tape around the u-joint caps so they don't fall off!

-Enjoy

You guys are the best, seriously. Can't thank you enough for all the great advice and heads up on the pinion seal. This truck has been neglected (I feel the guilt). Since I've gotten such great advice so far I thought I'd ask a few more questions. What manual and video would you suggest for rebuilding a transmission (C4 or C5?).

I'm not used to doing this job on the floor but I think if you have the rear wheels off the ground you can turn the drive shaft to get better access to those U joint bolts. I normally put a wrench on the bolt firmly and hit the wrench with a hammer to break them loose, I use 6 pt box end wrench for this though, 12 pt can be risky.

I also use a 2X4 piece of wood between the jack and the transmission.
