2007 Ford Grille Badge, replacing--help please

My new insert has blue stuff over what I think is adhesive on the back.

Is the factory one stuck on with the clips and two sided foam tape?

If so how do you get it apart?

Thanks guys---Bob

BERRY!!! TYLUS!!!.... where are you guys!! Gimme a bit to find them. They're probably outside under their Expys trying to find new ways of giving them the 6-Million-Dollar-Man treatment. You know... Better, Stronger,Faster!!.... :-X22

Hard to tell if it's just double sided tape or there are clips. Look at the back of the grille, crawl underneath the truck with a light. If you see two tabs at the back of the grille where the emblem is, there is your answer.

Looks like double sided tape with 3 small tabs for alignment. Heat gun and some work should get it off.

ExpyBob 04-07-2010 08:04 PM

I'll do that. I don't have a heat gun though.

I was thinking about adhesive remover or fishing line. Saw it off with line.

I have the exact one in the picture. Hair dryer ??

And thanks for getting back. Most appreciated. Very much so.

Bob

Holy crap Batman, rivets? I thought it was clips or something easily removed.

berry1234 04-08-2010 10:53 AM

ExpyBob, PM me with your email I will send you more details on this.

ExpyBob 04-08-2010 12:34 PM

When I replaced my chrome grille with a black one I needed to swap the original Ford badge as well. There are two plastic posts on the back of the badge and they are held in from behind the grille with (metal) push washers.

They are a pain in the butt and I ended snapping one of the tabs. I need a replacement badge cause I have severe cracking and bubbling on the plastic overcoat...but local "stealership" wanted $50 for one.

Thanks. Every time I open the thread the pictures are different.

I'm going to try it Saturday.

Just replaced mine. The original one did not have the adhesive tape. Pull the big upper shroud/cover and you can get your hand down in the area behind the emblem (barely). 2 8 mm nuts, remove them. I used a 1/4" ratchet and deep socket. You may need to pry the old emblem out - I used 2 putty knives but first put masking tape around the area to keep from messing the paint up. Install is the reverse.

Randy

Where did you buy?

Where did you buy your part? If you dont' mind, how much?? Thanks.

berry1234 04-26-2010 03:07 PM

I am seeing part number 8C3Z1542528A for about $15 online from Ford Parts Guy.
www.partsguyed.com

But when I search the grille parts for the 08-07 is shows up as $34. Strange.
