Awesome. Do post up as I'm looking at doing a supercab too so want to see how it goes & how it may differ from this crew cab one.

On the plus side I got bored the other day and cut out the firewall and welded the panel I had made for the computer. Little tighter than I had planned but not bad for eye-balling it. Theory goes I can run all the wiring now and get it running again..... found a 94ish stepside box that's cheap..... NO I dont' like it and no I don't plan on running it for long but I'm having a hard time finding shortbox to replace old one so... I'd rather drive it all uglied up with the stepside than have it sitting waiting for a box.

I know what you mean about wanting to get it to run. i finally got mine started yesterday. i just laid the wire harness out and hooked up the computer. a few jumper cables to ground everything and it fired right up. i had to scrap the ac i couldn't figure how to make it fit the engine compartment is just too small for the 91 a/c i think a hybrid of the 76 factory ac and the 91 would of fit but i threw away the factory air last year some time. any how i'm going to use the 260 ac 2windows down and 60mph and hack the 91 ac to use the heater core and blower. what are you doing for the steering column? i'd love to keep the key in the dash and use original but im just not sure the effort it would take to modify the original 76 will be worth it.

So you're saying the cab and box will mount right onto the frame without any problems? Is this a said rule for most Ford frames? I'm currently buying a 1984 Ford F-350 6.9 IDI 2wd, the cab and box are past my ability to restore so I am also looking at a 1970 Ford F-250 cab and box or a 1971 Ford f-100 cab and box to mount on the F-350's frame. I don't plan on repainting the body, just going to clear coat the cab and box and make her look like an beat to hell farm truck that has a monster inside her. Also, will the 1970 or 1971 Engine bay be able to fit the 6.9 IDI?(both cabs are single just like the 1984 one, and both have long boxes just like the 1984). Any tips or advice is great to guys

If i remember correctlly, Your gonna find the 70's chassis is narrower than the 80's chassis. Can u put the 80's body on the 70's chassis, sure. Will it all bolt right up, nope.

Just to clarify guys, im wanting to put a 70's cab and bed on a 80's chassis, and i measured the 1984 F350 IDI, but the 1970 F250 is in Ohio, a ways away from me, so ive been trying to find diagrams or websites that mite have the measurements of the body and chassis that way. i havent bought anything yet, trying to do my research first. again anything anyone knows about this is greatly appreciated guys, thanks

While I haven't done it, from everything I've seen & read (aside from the 1 post you quoted) it will NOT bolt up. Frames are different widths & have bumps/rises, whatever you want to call them in different spots.

Go back & re-read this thread. This 96 frame is going to be VERY similar to the 80's frame you want to use.

Not much new to report. Am looking to get rid of my 08 f350 scsb 4x so I bought a 78 rclb f250 4x to drive instead but quickly realized that the rc part annoyed me so bought a 78 sclb f250 2x4 and decided that the 155" wb annoyed me about the same so. . . . Yup. Building a 78 scsb f250 4x4. Read tons of articles on here about cutting a lb to sb and have decided on a different method than I have found. Can't find a decent sb around here so going to have to make a few.

Where you at? My short bed may be for sale but it's a 2wd. I think I'd convert 2wd to 4wd before I cut a frame. I'm just weird like that though & not a fan of cutting frames.

What kind of shape is the bed in? If the price is right, I would buy the truck for the bed, if the bed is rust free and straight.

you won't want it (especially if you think your rear bumper was beat!). it's an '87 bed that is ok but not great. The stock bed was beat up pretty badly around both tail light areas & I was going to be putting fiberglass bedsides on it anyways so I let the stock bed go to a guy who was going to take the time to fix it. He gave me the '87 bed and some cash. I was happy.

Not cutting frame. Swapping sc onto rc frame and cutting the box

good plan. It's about how I want to do it. I've been looking at putting a supercab with a bronco back end on a std. cab, long bed frame or a crew cab with super short bed on the same frame.

Supercab short bed wheel base is 6" longer than a standard cab, long bed so you just cut 6" outta the bed (which you probably know already). I have a pic of one I found on here somewhere.

Started pulling dents out of the box I found for it today....
