Anybody know where can get a repair kit for a 239 V8? I hate to pay for a complete pump

macs , dennis carpenter had 'em , and try job lots . this is my personal experience / opinion though { the following that is } : if your's is gone put an electric on it , and get a fuel pump stand block off plate . the electric won't vapor lock or give you any issues at all . seems to be a pretty common thing to do with them . i put mine back together with the oe pump when i first got it and didn't know the little trick of filling the pump stand { with pump attached } with grease or vasoline to hold the pushrod in place ..... well long story short it chucked the rod , bent it , and meesed up the pump arm end so ........................ now i got an electric !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

hello, i have a 51 F-1 and put a new fuel pump on it making sure the puch rod stayed in the cup on the pump but it doesnt want to pump any fuel. I pulled the hose from the pump to carb and used a gravity fed can to start and run the motor and it still wont pump any fuel---- any suggestions. It's a 239 V-8.

Didn't they shim the rod back in the day?

Your fuel pump runs from a push rod that rides on a lobe on the camshaft. The cam often wears as does the push rod. I have a 46 Ford that developed fuel pump problems. I tried a trick that an old timer told me about. I put a small piece of leather in the push rod cup on the pump. It lengthens the push rod and the leather doesn't seem to hurt anything. I used a common paper punch to punch a hole in a regular leather belt. The "punch out" is just the right size. My truck is original, including the 6 volt system and I do not want to alter it. I also didnt want to order a 6 volt pump. I only run the truck around my farm during the summer. Its not a perminant fix but the leather trick worked for me. Good luck.
