Zombie survival, FTE style...

This started up around page 172 of the "What have you done to your truck today?" thread in the '87-'96 forum.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...today-172.html

We were talking about bumpers and brush guards, and that turned into running zombies down, and the comparative merits of our individual rigs in an FTE survival column, roaming the country like fuel hungry nomads. Think of it as a mix of Mad Max, ____ of the (living) Dead, and a "Show off your rigs" thread.

We've already got someone driving a Mack fuel tanker, and a few other assignments.

I'd be driving my '95:

And I'll throw my mother in the '87:

They're both obviously 4x4's. The '87 is good for zombie crowd control, and with the wooden sides on my '95, it'd be good for breaking off from the convoy and picking up supplies from out of the way places where the roads are no good. Excellent for loading up on spare parts from any junkyards we come across, for instance...

i give you props for openin this thread! lol. ill probably be drivin my 78 F150 (the one not in my sig pic) with a 600+ HP motor and a V-plow on the front. it will be armored up with an additional two tons of platin inside the doors. under the hood, in the cab and fenders where it is not visible from the outside. it will be the "power house" that goes ahead to clear a path through parked cars, barricades, and zombie hoards.

Like we'll have fuel long enough to need stabilizer driving a convoy of like a dozen full size fords! :-missingt It might be better to set up a base camp at a refinery! :-X24

Let's see, 12 trucks getting an average 12mpg.. That's a convoy getting 1mpg. I think ever truck is gonna have to loose it's original fuel tank and get the bronco tank mod.

oh you'll hear from me shortly

I was thinking at least an F-350 DRW 4x4 for our team battering ram. F-150's of any vintage aren't quite as heavy as I'd like for having to do that often.

Besides, I thought we wanted Rangers, F-100's, and F-150's that are fast and maneuverable to run ahead as scouts so we could avoid having to ram through too awful much stuff.

ill have the remote controlled 50cal in the bed of mine.

we need a few hill climbing 4x4's here for recon as well. you can see a lot from high up. Or if sighseeing isn't your thing, you could always bring your rifle with. :-D

I'd thought of that. We really need several tankers. A couple gas, and one for the oil burners. We'll eventually have to figure out a sustainable fuel source, but at least there won't be too many of us. More at first, of course... hopefully there's some female FTE'ers who'll tag along, and maybe we can set up a village someday, after we've gathered everything we need.

Figured on sending the 4x2's down the main roads as scouts first, if they get to something they can't easily navigate(don't want to have to stop, get out, and set up to tow anyone if we can help it), they'll call up the 4x4's, tow rigs, or battering rams to make a road.

It was on the flatbed when I got it. If it hadn't been, I'd have welded one up. Going to put some work lights on it sooner or later.

when i get done with my 150, it will be sportnin 350 springs front and rear, and the fronts will be coils from an SD. with all the extra armor ill be sportin as well, the truck will probably tip in around 10,000 lbs. and yes, ill be runnin dana 60s front and rear.

also, i already stated that i would build extension tanks for everyone. 100 gallon minimum. clay also volunteered to drive an armored up, big rig tanker for us too.

460/5 03-22-2010 10:28 PM

and sportin 600 HP at command, ill still be able to wherever i wanna, if not more places since i have weight for traction. :-X04
