Rear seat Ideas...

So in addition to my transmission issues. (see my post last week) When I get everything squared away there I'd like to figure out how I can get a high-back seat in my 90 Supercab. Anyone who has these trucks knows the back seat is just too low. I have a little girl and I'd like her to be able to ride back there safely. In a collision there is no head support at all back there, unless a window is considered support. Any ideas on what I could swap in to do the trick? I know the later 350 supercrews have highback seats on driver and passenger side but I don't know if there would even be room to fit that seat... or if it would work. Has anyone ever done a swap like this?

There is a rear seat lift kit that JCW used to sell. I heard that NPD or LMC sells one. You could also build your own brackets to make it.

I don't see how there is enough room for full size seat back there, but maybe there is.

You may be able to fit a fullsize seat but nothing else

Would the JCW lift kit lift only the back of the seat? Lifting the whole thing really wouldn't help at all.

When you say I might be able to put a full size seat back there and nothing else what do you mean? I could get it in there but there would be no room for anyone to sit?

Has nobody did any modification to the little seats? Anybody found two bucket seats or anything to put in it's place? If I had a bunch of money I'd just bought a truck with all of this stuff but of course I don't. :-banghead

I lifted the rear seat in my truck with 5" C channel but that doesn't address the low seatback problem just makes the whole thing higher. I'd suggest you measure the width of the cab and start combing the junkyards to see what seats from newer trucks would fit.. maybe one from a Superduty would go in there.

Maybe the 3rd row seat form an Expedition would fit.

I think that would be too narrow:confused:

I think I'll just have to start measuring and visiting the junkyards. Still trying to get my transmission done right now... I'll check into that expedition seat though...

Ever make anything work, I'm looking thru threads on upgrading the rear to something better
