Double Din Stereo Install's 99-04
Hey Guys,
Looking at installing a double din in my 99 sd, i was told that the vent's are in the way and some custom fab work needs to be done. If this is true i'll do the work, just wanted to see what others double din's look like. |
Have to grab the trusty Dremel. I just did it last night (took 15 minutes). Forgot to take pix though. Its easier to take out the dash (start pulling from the left driver's side) first. Dremel or file down the protrusions on the top and bottom not the sides. Right now its snug enough that I don't feel the need to secure it more than with the anchor from the OEM radio, but I may consider doing it later.
BTW, in my case the OEM radio was a PITA to remove. Hangars did not work. Had to take the dash out with the radio still attached and press the clips manually. Search "double din" for more posts in the Audio & Video Systems, Navigation, Satellite Radio and Mobile Electronics section of the main forum. |

best pic I have access to at the moment (Pioneer F700BT), little bit of trimming and it fit just fine. |
did you just fit it in w/o any trim pieces(bolt on sides)?
I just installed my new kenwood DDX719 and it fit very tight, shaved off some of the top and bottom of the stereo trim bexel. |
