I'll have that hood this weekend as long as it's still there. A guy that's buying a rear end from me is coming from up there and I asked him to pic it up, he said he will. Sweet!

they use ultra sound to break it up, or some type of liquid to help break it up!

I had a kidney stone back at the beginning of August of last year. I had the sound wave lithotripsy done for the first procedure. It's basically very intense low frequency sound waves that they shoot directly at the stone. The procedure didn't work at all . I have since heard from others who have had stones that the sound wave lithotripsy didn't work for them either. The general consensus is that it usually only works on the softer stones.
Unfortunately, mine was a very dense calcification type of stone. I wound up back in the hospital a week later having the roto rooter procedure done. They go in through your wee wee with a little camera and scope with a little grapple on the end, grab it, and pull it out. If the stone isn't too far up in your urinary tract like mine was (right outside my kidney at the entrance to my ureter) it's pretty much the end of the story... but if it's high up like mine, they will leave a shunt in your ureter... that has a spiral shaped spring on the end of it in your bladder... which is connected to a string that hangs out and they tape to the inside of your thigh. They will leave that in place for about 5 days to allow the swelling of your ureter to subside... then you get to go in for an office visit where they remove the shunt by pulling the string out of your wee wee . All this sounds a lot worse than it is. I almost worried myself sick over the Dr. removing the shunt... and it turned out to be the easiest part. Anyway, I hope I haven't made anybody mad... you looked like you were looking for information on what to expect, so I thought I would give it first-hand. If I had it to do over, though, I would have gone ahead and had them extract it that first week instead of having to go through two procedures. |
Dear Lord oh hear my prayer
I really don't want to ever go there Curse my joints and break my bones But leave my kidneys free of stones Office visits and tons of pills Pains in the butt and doctor bills All of these we all shall endure But please send Barry a painless cure |
This old man talk is scaring me

Good Morning All.......:)
the drama of age...we all will experience something as we progress in life! |
I guess I should have mentioned that the procedure I detailed is only necessary if the stone's too big to pass... :-innocent
