1990 Bronco, Sway bar, yay or nay?

I just lifted my Bronco 4'', I didn't get a swaybar drop bracket.

Should I keep the swaybar attached? I know a lot of people remove them, but I'm not sure how bad it is going to hurt me on the highway. I have front and rear swaybars, quad shocks in the front..

I'll get a lot more travel without the swaybars, right? What's going to happen to the bronco control-wise without the swaybars? I'm going to be pulling an 18' boat with it this summer

I say no, but im not sure how it will affect your handling, Paul dont have his sway bar and his chit tracks pretty good...

Quad shocks huh...
Pretty bling daddy...

i'm worried about this so called 'death wobble' and other highway speed issues.. the front end is pretty stiff, the quad shocks should keep it pretty much under control, right?

I doubt you'll have problems. Take it easy the first time you tow, then if you don't like how it handles put it back on. I didn't notice a difference on my '78, but the bushings were probably all worn out anyway.

I doubt I'll notice anything driving around town.. it's that occasional pothole / bad road when I'm going at 70mph that I'm worried about.

I have a rear shock mount out, before I realized it I hit some train tracks at 60 and it was one of the scariest moments of my life, the rear end started bouncing, I was all over the road..
I'm worried about those moments, that unexpected loss of control. If removing the swaybar is a minimal change, it's no big deal, I can handle it.. but if I'm going to hit a pothole at 70mph and the swaybar disconnected causes my Bronco to do weird random stuff, I don't want to do it.

actually, now that I think about it, this is one of the first vehicles I've owned that actually had a stock swaybar. i dunno why I'm making such a big deal about it

Truckin4life 02-26-2010 03:49 PM

Well.. The only real way to find out is hit a pot hole at 70...

If your going to be doing more street driving than off roading you might as well leave it on.

It's my fishing vehicle, my personal daily driver and general beater. The closest offroad park is 50 miles away, most of my fishing spots are 50-100 miles away, but once I get to these spots I take the Bronco everywhere.

I'm gonna disconnect them and just see how it drives.

a sway bar is not going to cure/fix/cause teh death wobble.

what about sway bar disconnects if you think you really need it.

This is your best option, if you lose control and crash because you don't have a sway bar, well.. you probably shouldn't be driving anyway.

Im at a loss because I fail.

alpha/omega 02-28-2010 09:41 AM

Last time I told Lauren "next time I dont want to be drunk so I remember more about it." It turns out to be teh failquote of the millenia. I did get my junk groped though.

but seriously...
