What type of fuel for a V10?
Does it really matter?
Regular 87 Octane? Plus 89 Octane? Super 92 Octane? Are there any recommendations? Will the motor benefit with one over the other? |
Just run the 87, with it stock you will see no gain running super unleaded.
If you had a tuner for it programed for the 91 then you could have the timing advanced and you would have a power increase, but you will not see one stock. |
The engine will take all 3 - but you're wasting your money on anything but the recommended 87. As bill11012 says - this will change if you have a tuner specifying a higher octane level.

Good advice,

I use 87 octane with the lucas fuel additive. It seems to stop some of the minor minor pinging I sometimes get. When I am going on a long trip, like towing my boat for vacation, I run 87 and luca octain booster with the fuel additive. It pulls the boat through the mountains like a super truck.

The cheapest crap you can pour into it. lol

The last time my V10 had that crap run through it it ran bad and would barely idle for several tank full after. You should have seen how much sand was in the filter.:-X09 |
Absolutely use the cheap stuff.....

Well I use 87 around town, but when towing I use minimum 89/91 (depending on station)! The first time I towed with it on 87 you could feel the truck surging and kinda weak. The next fillup I used 89 and the X woke up big time! and that wasn`t isolated either. I`ve done it after that to burn up the 87 and the truck runs the same untill I fill up with the midgrade. under load mine needs midgrede minimum.
