is this the right 6.0 tranny cooler upgrade?

ok did a little more searching, 31-row part-number is 5C3Z7A095B correct? price $398
5C3Z7A095CA part-# is for a 26-row cooler price $301.12 correct? discount ford doesnt even list the 31 row part number i had to search by part number and find it.

The 31-row part number is 5C3Z-7A095-CB. You might not see the 31-row listed because that's the old one. I don't remember the year ('05 maybe?), but Ford re-designed the 6.0L tranny cooler and made it more efficient. Although the 26-row is 5 less rows, it has about the same cooling capacity as the older 31-row.

If you don't want to wait and find a deal on a used one (CL, junkyard, eBay), you will probably get the best deal from Ed unless you've got a local hookup:

so part number 5C3Z-7A095-CB is the new 31 row 6.0 cooler? as long as it has the same mount locations ill get that one. yea ive been lookinh for a couple of months now and i cant find any, ebay gets on my last nerve every bid at the last second somebody outbids me so i had enough with it all.

brian42 i went to ed site and he doesnt list the new part number at all, should i just try and contact him instead?

They do not replace them anymore if you go to the dealer. It is not a new one...

I just looked and Ford has stock at the depot(s) they are avail if you want to buy one.

ok so what is the part number for the new updated 26 row cooler. i read its just as good and cheaper so ill buy that one if i can get the right part number

To recap:

The 31-row cooler is the older 6.0L tranny cooler and the 26-row cooler is the newer 6.0L tranny cooler. Here are the current part numbers for both:

26-row 5C3Z-7A095-CA
31-row 5C3Z-7A095-CB

The 26-row is a redesigned unit that has about the same cooling capacity as the 31-row (and is about $100 cheaper). I don't remember the exact post it was on, but it was posted by Mark Kovalsky. He was a Ford transmission engineer so I tend to believe what he says.

If you can't (or don't want to) find a used one or have a local hookup, Ed's got 'em both:

And, yes, they both have the same mounting and connection points. As for dropping them into something besides a 6.0L, you may have to modify your lines to/from (I know you do on a 7.3L).

So -CA is the 26-row and -B is the 31-row?
