Replacement Driving Lights

I have a 2008 Expedition EL 4x4. Both of my driving lamps have cracked housings, with one holding water. The oem parts are close to $100 a piece. Has anyone found a better alternative?

Also, I replaced the headlights with H13ST Silverstar High Performance Lights. The lights are brighter and a whiter light. I think they look better and perform better.

Thanks for your input.

Maybe eBay? Or Tasca Ford sells OEM parts at a nice discount...

Are you talking about the fog light housings or headlight housings?

The fog light housings.

Mine are cracked too and not from rocks hitting them. I have seen many complaints on the 07-09's about this. I think the bulb is very hot and the plastic can not handle the heat. Have it raining and cold water hot plastic do not mix. I think it will crack again unless replaced with a better material.

That was my thought as well. I have seen different housings, including the bulb, on the internet from $38 - $75. This is much lower than the price from my local dealership ($93). I just didn't know if anyone had better luck with a third party replacement.

Was planning on replacing fog light with the sylvania silverstar product, but if the lens is the problem, that might just make matters worse.

I didn't see any replacements with glass lenses. I would assume replacing it would only buy you a short time before it cracks again. My cracks are 1/2" and don't seem to effect the light output. I will just leave mine for now.

My cracks on the passenger side haven't affected the light, but the cracks on the driver side are large enough that the lamp is partially filled with water. This knocked out the driver side lamp.

I may try some third party housings and let everyone know how they do.

That is a problem. The prices vary greatly. I would try an aftermarket housing and see how it holds up.

If your lights are about the same size as the 2000 Navigator you should look at Northern Tool's web site. They have an excellent driving light with 100w bulbs for about $10.00 each. I put a pair on my Ranger and they really reach out there. I'm going to see if they will fit my Navigator soon.

Thanks for the additional option. I will check that out.

you fellas need to go wayyy back and check page 18, around mid August of 08. Berry1234, you were posting then, same subject. Maybe your answer is there.

I looked back and found this thread. I assume that is the one you were referencing. Thanks for the additional information. Looks like it has been a problem for Expeditions for a long time.

Replacement Bulbs and Lense Housing

Hey Everyone,
Found non OEM replacement bulbs and housing on EBay - $78. That's for two housings and two bulbs, plus $12 for shipping.
Not bad. There were some singles on EBay too.
