Mixed Coolant!!!!!!
I got a 2004 F-250SD 6.0 and just bought it.... With out thinking I bought just generic diesel cooland and topped up the reservoir with it. Later on I found out that that is a no no 9Ford Gold is the only thing to use) and now need to flush the system($$$$).... I only added maybe 1 1/2-2 Litres of red-stuff to the reservoir... Do I need the flush or is the mix Diluted enough that it wont harm anything.. I now read all labels and instructions before doing anything....Trucks too expensive to wreck on a dumb thing like that!!!

YA, I figured as much lol, thanks anyway!

You can also use Zerex GO-5. Same as premium gold at about 1/2 the price at Napa. This doesn't mean you can use their filters too!
|
Around here a Coolant flush they say is worth 170-200 dollars... Is that right or is that with normal coolant... I want to do it RIGHT this time!!
|
With the age of your truck you need to make sure they are flushing with VC-9 iron cleaner first, then a clear flush and finally 50/50 mix of prem. gold or GO-5.

Good to know, will Ford itself have these Chemicals to do the process???? Fast-Lane is where I got my quote so far...

Just remember, keep the original air filter (Donaldson) only use Ford or Racor Oil and Fuel Filters. Also need to use Specific Ford Transmission Fluid. Substituting with anything else but will cost you. Welcome to FTE. |

For future coolant changes go to the search tab above and type in "Coolant Change 101". |

Fast-Lane is the wrong lane to be in. As stated earlier I will get you the info if you want. If you do not want to do it take it to the dealership to save your investment.
For future coolant changes go to the search tab above and type in "Coolant Change 101". Ford dealer here has a Fastlane. They do all maitenance items not classified as repairs. Fritts Ford in Riverside if you need the name for reference. |

Have not seen that around here at least where I go and no one else promotes it. Stand corrected. Thought it was like Jiffy-Lube.

Could I use another coolant system cleaner than the VC-9
