1989 F150 vs 1989 F250
I need some insight into how a 1989 F150 2wd frame and mounts compare to a 1989 F250 4wd.
My frame is rusting out on my F250 right where the rear spring brackets bolt in. Can I use the frame sections off of a F150 from the same year to replace the rusted portion? Also, if I buy the parts F150 truck, it has a better cab on it, would the body bolt in place on my F250? Just wanting to see if anyboy has any experience or knowledge related to this subject. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated. Thanks, Ben |
Ive done the research on bodies, and the body will work, but as for the frames, ive read both yes and no.
Honestly what I would do is grab a good tape measure, and measure the frames where you plan to use each part. Im also subscribing because I would like to know more myself! |
I beleive the nominal dimensions are the same, however the F250 frame is made of thicker metal. Also, the leaf spring hangers wil only be 2"wide, not 3"
|
^^^ Some F150s came with 3" wide springs.

If the F-250 is a light duty F-250 (semi-floating rear) the frame is the same thickness as an F-150. If the F-250 is a heavy duty (full floating axle) then it has the same frame thickness as the F-350. If the F-150 is 4x4, then it should have 3" shackles; 2wd has 2" shackles.

thanks guys, i need to do a little more investigation, but I think it will work for what I need.
