I feel kinda stupid askin this
Hi I recently aquired a 1965 F250 Stake body truck. I actually was suprised that I did get it on off of Ebay. Due to the timing I had to store this in my driveway on jack stands. Currently it is covered up and the wheels are off the ground.
It has antifreeze in it that is good to -40 degrees. The average temp has been around 10 degrees - we have 22 days so far of below zero weather. Question is about storage of the truck. I have the wheels off the ground, truck is covered. Battery I left in it but it is disconnected. (it is pretty much gone anyway) Did I miss anything? I am in Minnesota land of 10,000 lakes 15,624 swamps and 8 fish. Thanks in advance ...... B |

Loosen the fan belts, pull the plugs and squirt in some 10wt oil then install them finger tight. Drain the carburetor, tape shut any opening mice can get in. Remove the battery, if it cracks it will leak acid all over your truck. Push the clutch in and block it there (keeps the disk from sticking to the flywheel).

All Thanks for the feedback! If the weather man holds up his forcast ...... I can get out there and perform these tasks.
I did forget to mention that I put some Seafoam in the tank. Along with a bottle of STP gas treatment. I was told that St-bil is not the best choice in the cold. 1965~ I feel it was a decent buy as well, I must admit it takes a bit getting used too, I drive a Toyoya Camry as a daily driver and to say the least .... it is a trip. Pumpin the gas pedal, and then turnin the key..... :-X06 btw- where in MN? |
