stupid gauge idea

I thought it might be funny if i got a gauge and made a face for it or just relabel it kinda so it reads "awesome." i was just wondering if theres a gauge out there that always reads high? or how can i have one that works but i can trick it to read high?

Get a Palm Pre, they have an app for that. You relabel the gauge whatever you want, and as you rock the phone the needle goes up. I labeled it 'Odds of getting some' (g version of what I labeled it) and tried it on the old lady.

Her reply was "your phone is broken"

If you were willing to pay someone else to do it, I'm sure you could find a custom gauge company. Actually, now that I think about it, I believe justdashes.com does custom gauge work. I couldn't tell you what their prices are, tho.

On a related note, a couple of years ago I was restoring a 75 Porsche 914, and one guy on the forum I posted on started customizing control knobs. It was something like a smiley face was the headlight knob, a winking face was the volume control and a big cheesy grin face was the tuner. Guys on the boards loved 'em and he's filled a lot of orders for them.

Wouldn't the oil pressure needle go to full sweep if you replaced the resistor with a plain wire? It'd still "work" as poorly as always and you would be free to relabel it.
