How did Ford fix my transmission shudder?
 

I have a 2000 4x4 5.4 w/ 4r100 trans. I started having the transmission shuddering problem at around 25k miles. The dealer chcked it out and said that they reprogrammed the transfer case. My work order reads:

"check oasis found SSM 15319 for high speed vibration and vibration on accel perform SSM change fluid and check pids monitor reprogrammed gem road test ok."

Does this stuff sound like it applies to the transfer case as I was told, or to the transmission like everyone else has been saying they have experienced. I haven't read here that anyone else has had shuddering caused by the transfer case.

Its due to a bad shift valve not providing enough pressure during the shifts. Rather than fix it, they reprogram your computer to supply less line pressure during shifts. Basically, what they gave you is a slower, softer shift (ie, slower pickup). See:

:) I have just installed the above item on my 2000 EB Expy and I could not be any more happy with the difference it has made in the way it drives/shifts. I was worried about the soft shifts when pulling my 24 foot enclosed trailer and show cars (Mustangs) Thanks for bringing this to my attention! please feel free to reply with any questions about installing this great item.
