I just stuck the spyntec kit from solid axle industries. Spyntec Lockout Hub Conversions It is pretty much the same thing as dynatrac. So far it has been great...

They are pretty easy to install. Hardest part was pressing out the Ujoints for the new stub shafts.

Where are you located? Have you checked out Northwest Ford Diesels ? There is an event up in Hubbard (Woodburn) area on the 30th... should be fun.

yolty 01-08-2010 04:26 PM

Thanks Layson, I will look into SpynTec before I buy.

FORD RANGER 01-08-2010 05:11 PM

their not any different then the warn lock outs.

yolty 01-08-2010 05:24 PM

I was just looking at them online, they are basically the same price and style as the Dynatrac conversion. The difference is no fairy dust from the Dynatrac, instead it is from SpynTec...LOL

I guess these kits are good if you need to replace your spindle do to damages, or when installing large (over 37") tires, other than that one should just replace the hub assembly. Am I seeing this right?

I would give them a call. You never know, you may be able to get them cheaper. These guys are a little different... LOL I know Dynatrac will not budge.. LOL

Pretty much if you maintain these wheel bearings you shouldn't have to have to mess with them again... Peace of mind.. LOL... It is a must for larger tires, just becuase you eat through bearings a lot more.

Some trucks just eat through the stock bearings a lot more then others....

yolty 01-08-2010 05:48 PM

it never hurts to try right!
I would imagine those 38's would eat some bearings pretty quick especially playing in the snow!

Jack "Ford Ranger"

My neighbor used to push cars off the track there with his White Toyota Pickup. It has been a few years since he did this but he did so for a long time. Elmer is his name.

The wife, kids and I have enjoyed watching some good races out there!

Hi yal,
I was just reading up on your free spin hub swaps. Did any of you go with the dyna trac swap. I see Layson went with the spytec. I'll have to look them up. Thats the first i've hear of them. Well, can yal give me a up date of how your new wheel bearings are holding up I'd appreciate it. I'm going to get some free spins but not sure witch ones. I run 38's and am on my 3rd set of unit bearings. I'm done with those.

Thanks,
:-drink

Live4yotas 12-26-2010 05:21 PM

I'm also looking into the free spin kit. I ran 38's for about 4 years on 18x10's and now I have run 40's on 18x12's for a year or so. My truck still has the factory unit bearings as far as I know.

Live4yotas 12-26-2010 05:25 PM

I see how the dynatrac and spyntec kits are better for maintaining bearings. But I don't see how it's a stronger setup. I have a 85 Toyota 4x4 which has the same setup as the free spin kits. You still can't run really wide rims or big tires without bearing issues.
