Is a 92' extended cab 4x4 night worth fixing?

I had a buddy call me about swapping trannys in his pickup last summer and brought the nite truck over as a donor.Told me I could have the rest of the truck as partial payment. Long story short, I found that his filter had fallen off and replacing it solved all his problems.

Which left me with a black yard ornament. It 's got a bad motor and the midwest rust over the wheel wells and on the cab corners, but otherwise its not in bad shape.
The wife says its got to go, which got me thinking that I need a wheeler. Thought I'd post and see it was worth something before I destroyed something of value.

So should I fix it and sell it or start making a purpose built mud truck?

*Edit* I know I miss spelled Nite in the title, I got interupted with a phone call.

I would say keep it.. they are fairly hard to come by.. at least around here.. Plus you could make an awesome mud truck out of it.. Value wise im not sure.. but you own it, so why not?

yeah i would fix it. me and a friend were at a junk yard walking around and seen a truck with clear corners and when i walked up to it i thought it looked different, had a 5.0 5spd which would be nice to have and found out it was a nite edition. wish i would have found it before every1 started taking parts off of it. the are cool looking trucks.

Well, I Would see what it will need to restore and how much your budget & time will allow. I like my Nite 4x4 Ext. Cab. It would be a shame IMO to scrap or part it out. It is of course up to you. Best to Ya, 92

Nice truck, I remember when they were new and how bad I wanted one.
I have the same thoughts about cutting it up or scrapping it. I've pretty much decided to fix it up, at least somewhat, it's pretty rough, the previous owner didn't take care of it. Not really sure how I'll get the smell out of the interior since it came from the hood. I'll post up some pics when I get it drug into the shop.

Good for you, Apparently they are far and few between. I never knew that Nite's existed. I just saw mine years ago, found it in an ad in another state when I was lookin for a 4x4. I thought it looked different. And to me, It just looked sharp. You have a rare ride there.

Oh by the way, I like that Avatar you got there Sphinx.

They say you learn something new every day and I just learned something really cool right now! I did not realize that there were extended cab versions of the Nite truck! I thought they were all regular cab. 92 Black Nite that's a really good looking truck! The only gripe I have with it are those ugly "trailer tow" mirrors on it. But still a good looking truck!

"The "Nite" package was a special edition package that was available in 1991 and 1992. The package was for the most part an appearance package, with the most noticeable features being the black paint & trim, and special multicolor stripe. The Nite package (available on the XLT Lariat truck) also included 235/75/15 white-letter tires, alloy wheels, and sport suspension. In 1991, you could only get a "Nite" truck in a regular cab F150. In 1992, you could get it in any style F-150 (StyleSide, SuperCab, etc.) in addition to the Bronco. These trucks came with either a 302 (5.0L) or 351 (5.8L) V8, and in either 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive."
I don't believe they are as rare as everyone wants them to be...
Just Google Ford Nite, and see all the results.
My Truck, However is way rarer, as it's much older than just 18-19 years old....
Ford made 2,300 "Super Camper Specials" from '73-'79.
They were only available as F-350 Regular Cab 2 wheel drives.
But enough on my truck, lemme get back to the "Nite".
They also came with Pink Stripes.
Here are some "Nite" Brochures.

Well follow up? what did you decide to do? i got a 92 SC Flareside Eddie Bauer and use it for a mud racer. if you lose 4wd forget it cause the bed is so light, but in 4wd it does good. the suspension package should be nice too, i dont know if mine is usual or not but its got front and rear sway bars, and the towing perches for axle weight distribution i guess, and as a racer alot of guys like short bed and bronco for the small wheel base but the truck turns and performs reasonably well.

.....

Thanks for that info Camper!!

Considering how many F-series trucks that were built they are rare...yes Google them and you will get results...but you can also Google "Halle Berrys' boobs and get a crap load of hits but its not like we see those everyday either....(but would love too}>....LOL

You can also Google 63 Vette and come up with bunches but have you ever tried to find one!!

I just think it is cool because they were ahead of their time...they are of yesteryear what the Raptor is of today!!

God Bless

Tim

I personally think the Extended Cab Nite and 4x4 would be the rarest of the Nites, I think it would be worth fixing and if you don't want to restore it at least get it to the stage of preserving it.
