Power adders

Hi i am new here and my dad has a 92 bronco with the 5.0 and we are currently doing the timing cover gasket because of water leak and we are wondering if there what kinds of things we could do to it to get the power up while we have it all torn down. Things like possibly throttle body, intake, cam, headers? What mods give the best bang for the buck? Thanks and sorry if this has been posted before

A cam upgrade is easily the best bang for your buck on that vintage 5.0, with 3.55 gears and stock tires the '94+ 5.0 truck cam with 1.7 rockers is what you want, if the truck has more gearing then the 5.0HO cam with 1.7 rockers or the Comp cam in my sig are good options. After that longtube headers is the next best thing, shorties and an aftermarket Y pipe will help make more HP but they won't help at all at low rpms and that's where it need the most help. The 5.0HO intake complements the stock heads better than the truck version but it's not a direct bolt-on because the throttlebody is in a different location so some cable and vacuum line mods are necessary and you may have to build a custom throttle cable retainer plate.

I dont know about cams. But, The best thing I did for power (and MPG) was install a MSD ignition box. Of course, that can be done anytime. I have to agree with Conansk, the shorty headers I have experince with dont seem to make much differnce.

alright thanks for the input might look into a cam and msd box. I am a newbie so this is probably stupid but is the 5.0HO intake the one that looks like the one on the mustangs

Hey heli, what would that ignition box do for me?.

Also... i did a search on the site and it says we should use the MSD-6AL model of ignition box, then i checked on Amazon... and apparently it isn't, wich model are you using?.
