Retro Ford Truck?

I like the retro look for the Mustangs, and I would like to see Ford do something similar with their trucks, something like this 1968? What do you think? Would it sell?

I think the car makers would have to dig a little deeper into the archives to find a retro that would pique enough interest to make money.

Give the body panels of a much older truck but all the goodies of a 2010 F-150.

Chevy kind of tried that a few years back with the SSR? It was ugly as hell and flopped big time. they tried to make it like a hot rod truck though... not like an actual older pickup. I don't think the 60's trucks had the sex appeal of the 60's stangs ( I own a '66), so I doubt there would be much market for retro truck of that vintage. But maybe one of the 50's f-100... Fat fendered and huge Chrome grill. Maybe...

The retro thing seems to work for cars like the Mustang, Challenger, and Camaro. It works in limited volume models and "niche" cars pretty well. The trucks, however, are the bread and butter for the Big Three and have been for some time. You don't fix what ain't broke.....basically, they aren't willing to take the risk of alienating hundreds of thousands of customers just to appease a few. A retro model would be cool but I don't see it happening. Like Stephen said, Chevy tried it with the SSR and it flopped like a trout on the bank.

It would not work. The current Ford and Dodge trucks look better than any of the older models. I had both a 68 F-100 and a 68 F-150, They were good for their time but I would not want another. I think Chevy and GMC might find a small but limited market since their current model is not one of their better designs.
