suspension upgrade for 1976 F100

Does anyone have any ideas on how to beef up the rear suspesion of my 1976 F100. Here is the deal it rides nice handles well, but I can't carry any kind of load without the back end going way down to the ground. Ultimately I would like to raise the backend about 2 inches, increase the load carry capacity, and not loose to much of the ride quality I now have. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well i belive the easiest thing to do would to go to a junk yard and take the rear springs from a 1 ton truck. Maybe even the whole rear end. Thats was one of the first things I did to my truck.
I didn't put the springs in myself but i belive its pretty much just bolt them in. You will need new u-bolts because of the thicker springs and they may make the ride a little rougher. But ya gotta take the good with the bad.

newt, I'd look at air bags or shocks. You can inflate them for a load and deflate them when not needed.
