Gennie Shifters

I was at a local car show in Denver this past weekend. I noticed some Gennie shifters and realized they are made in Colorado. I was going to run with Lokar but like the idea of made in Colorado. They look really good and aparantly have been around longer than Lokar. I am picking one up on Thursday along with the AOD TV cable from them.

Anyone have experience with them? I assume I need a 23 inch shaft length for my F1. I want it to look like it is a manual transmission. Another think I like about the Gennie is the ability to use my old brass shift knob. The shifter is adjustable on top of the transmission which will allow me to properly locate it in front to back.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Great experience with the gennies. You put any knob you want on them withour having to buy a adaptor. I like the fact that it shifts like a column shift pattern and you do not have to press a button or push down on shifter. IMO well worth the extra money.

Thanks, I agree in liking how they shift. Cool part is about the same price as the Lokar and the shop I am going to get it from handed out coupons at the car show for an extra 10% off.

Did you use a 23 inch shifter shaft? I assume that is the correct length for Effies?

I like them and used them in my older Ford Hot Rods but when I installed a column shifter in my last F-1, I didn't want floor shifters anymore. I'm a big guy and with my tiny wife in the truck there isn't much room to spare. If I add the grandaughter, it's a cab-full.... Gennie Shifters are well made and solid products.

Just my $0.02 :-X21

Good point on the room in the F-1 but the 23" shifter looks good with the ole skool look going. I really hate the drag racing 4" b/m star shifter look.

I currently run a column shift but after the cost and setup, I had wished I had put a gennie in this truck again IMO.

I just installed a Gennie Shifter in a COE. In addition to the reasons already discussed I selected Gennie because I wanted a shifter that looked original. In fact I used a shifter from a F4 tranmission ... straightened it a bit and turned it around. Can't do that with Lokar.

The Gennie shifter is a quality product. Simple installation and very strong. Strong enough that I (bolt on) mounted the park brake on the (bolt on)Gennie Shifter mount.

That is a cool application.

I went to a shop here in the Denver area called Streamline to get the Shifter. Turns out Streamline is owned by Gennie Manufacturing and is basically a retail outlet for the company. I did not realize how big Gennie is and they make a ton of Hot Rod type stuff. Very cool place. I am getting a top mount adjustable with a 23 inch shaft. In addition they have the TV cable and motor mounts for my application. I am just a stoked to have a cool shop like that in the area as I am about the shifter. Gennie apparantly has purchased several companies and moved them to Colorado that build things like 32 Ford bodies, chrome stuff etc.

Ok prop rant done.
