flashing O/D light?

1995 f150 5.0 4wd 4r70w transmission 158,000 miles. This morning went out hunting for awhile, stopped to get gas,got back in the truck and out on the highway, went to push the button to shut off O/D, noticed the light was flashing. the light flashed for about 2 minutes before it stopped. The truck shifted fine the whole time, didn't shift hard or slam into gear or anything. I probably won't have time to run the codes until Friday(not my daily driver),but what are some things that usually cause the o/d light to flash? thanks!!

If I remember correctly, a blinking OD light means there is something wrong. A warning light.

Yes, o/d flashing means, that the pcm has recognized a problem, could be a simple as a loose wire, or coroded conectors.

ok,had a chance to read codes today, the only code I got in the KOEO test was code 452,vehicle speed sensor fault. There were no KOER codes. would the VSS code cause the o/d light to flash? I drove the truck today, and it drove fine, shifted fine,o/d light went on and off fine, just like it did before the o/d light flashed. I dunno, maybe just a fluke, just kinda would like to know if it is something I need to do something about, deer season starts again next weekend, and i will need to drive the truck 100 miles round trip daily.

On my 94 it was a torque converter/ trans. issue. Good luck.

if the speed sensor is faulty, yes it could cause the OD light to flash. The transmission computer needs to know how fast your truck is going to know how to shift.

Actually, I took it to a trans shop to get diagnostic. It came up torque converter which he thought was a misread and reset. Took it back a number of times with same result until one day "bang" and I needed a new trans instead of a torque converter. Live and learn.

When my buddies '99 Powerstroke sits for a week or two the O/D light will flash for a minute or two, once it warms up it goes away and won't come on again until he doesn't drive it for a week or two again.
