1992 f150 4x4
 

I was driving down the road a couple days ago and all of a sudden my tranny fluid started coming out of the bellhousing at a steady stream, I replaced the front tranny seal over the weekend and put it back together and it still leaking just as it was, can someone give me a clue as to what would cause this, and also how can I swap the e40d for a c6? will it work and is there alot of things I have to do to make it work?my e4od was rebuilt 16 months ago and never leaked until now 1992 ford f150 4x4 5.8 E4oD

A C6 would work as long as it is also from another 4x4 vehicle and the same bellhousing style. Driveshafts may need to be modified too. Your PCM will not be happy without connection to the solenoid pack and MLPS. A lot of work IMHO.

One of three conditions has likely happened.

1. The transmission too much fluid and was venting through the front pump

2. The transmission overheated and was venting fluid through the front pump

3. The front pump seal is bad.

Since you already replaced the seal and I assume you did not overfill it twice, No. 2 could be your problem. Cooler lines still connected?

yeah the cooler lines r still connected, its leaking out of the tc insp hole even at an idle and cold, I only put 4 qts in it after I reinstalled the tranny and the fluid started to come out, so the tranny was no where near full

which way is the right way to put the front seal in? does the orange point in or out? Maybe theseal is in backwards?
