O/T kind of
so,i listed my truck for sale on kijiji(its like craigs list),this is a reply got tonight.
My bank approved a loan for me to buy a similar one. I read the description on the ad and i am satisfied.I am interested in buying this one. My bank has approved the funds for me but they said they will release the funds when they get proof of new insurance from the company we provided due to the terms of the loan we were given The cost of the insurance is $850.Please let me know if you can send it to the company but you dont have to send the money if you already have insurance. Once the company faxes the insurance papers to the bank, the bank will then release the funds and cash will be available to buy the it. The money you sent them will also be reimbursed to you when the bank is paying you because its already included in the loan. The name of the company is Quick Insurers..Also let me know if you have all papers related to it in your possession After the bank gets the proof, they will then send you a check or wire the money into your account. The money you sent will also be added. Please let me know. The bank wants to know if all papers are in your name? Details to send the money via western union money transfer are given below. He is the senior accountant of the insurance company Sean Holland 3 shelburne road N7 6DL London. England After they get the money, they will forward the insurance papers to the bank and when the bank gets the papers, they will then make funds available to you the seller. The company's branch office is in Ontario.. I live in Ontario. The bank said if they get the papers today, they pay you today provided you have a valid ID can you say SCAM. this is the first time this has happen to me with a for sale ad,i get e-mails all the time saying to collect your winnings or what ever, but i just delete them. just thought i would share and remind people to be very careful online. |
I had a similar experience when I advertised my condo for rent on craigs list. I received several long winded diaglogues asking me to follow some sort of rabbit trail that led to who knows where. WHY? I dont know. I responded to the first one and it went nowhere. I ignored the others. I think some people just like to confuse issues. Makes them feel important I guess.

Oh No it's absolutely legit. But I do that kind of insurance as well. So if you want to just send the money to me and I will take care of this with out you having to worry about it.
Who's your buddie! Julie is! :-X10 |

It really amazes me that these scams are still going on.Do they really think that we are foolish enough to fall for this.
|
The short answer is YES, people fall for this crap every day.
|
Well... People really do fall for this every day. My father worked in LA impact a fraud/drug task force based out of la and he dealt with this constantly. Usually little old ladies and ultra religious people.

I had an ad on Craigslist a while back and got a scammer. I screwed with the guy for about a month. He sent me a check for $2000 over my asking price with the agreement that I'd send him the excess. I got the check, which was phony, and he started giving me a sob story about he needed the money because his wife suffered a "fatal" sickness and was in the hospital and needed surgery. I strung him along for a while telling him to check with Obama for medical help and I hoped his wife would hang in there until I got home the next week so I could cash his check.
It was fun while it lasted, he finally stopped emailing me. |
I have an 85 on craigslist for parts right now and just got this:
"Hey I've checked out your phoenix ad posted on 11/22/2009 You do not need to sell your ride. Observe my site for a different option. Check This WebSite Link To Learn More. Regards Dillon " I checked the link through a scam site registry and it was one of the Make money through google scams that everyone is doing lately. Besides the fact that the truck is OBVIOUSLY good for nothing but parts... Is no one honest? |
I ran an ad on craigs list when looking for a keyboard player for a Blued band and got 5 replies from hookers. They were all willing to play,........but not a piano.

Yeah, Like with Bob's scammer, I think a lot of these folks may have alternative motives beyond the obvious theft - like getting you to write back and forth so they can pick up certain info or expressions to use in identity theft.
