Pull the vacuum hose off the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) and see if there is any fuel in it.
You may want to turn the key off & on while watching the nipple. If any fuel comes out the FPR is bad. |

Thanks yes I tried that as well the diaphram is sound I erased all codes then checked spark plugs they are all carbonised black obviously running rich , Changed one bank of plugs only to see if it would start and it did then the following codes came up only after complete erase
Ford's common codes for OBD1 (vehicles made before 1995) 10 ( Dont Know what this one means unless a cylinder balance test not sure) 21 engine coolant temperature (ECT) out of self-test range (This One) 24 air charge temperature (ACT) sensor out of self-test range This One)[/FONT] Now with these codes will it give me a rich mixture ie send wrong voltage to ecm and tell unit to give more fuel? Thanks for that info by the way ,was the first thing which was logical on fuel press reg Regards Phil |
Stating that the sensor is out of self test range usually means that the computer sees the sensor as bad and will fall back to default settings wich yes can make the vehicle run a little rich.
|
Methinks you'd better get a good wiring diagram and go find the bad ground.
|
The self test has to be done on a warm engine or the temp sensors will often show out of range.
|
Yes as Paul O said above they are normal codes for a cold engine.
The 10 is just a spacer between the KOEO and CM self-test codes with a code reader. This would just be one flash if you were using the CEL (MIL) to read the codes. |
