302 conversion
Does anybody out there know what parts are needed to do a 302/auto conversion to a '66 e-100? And did the shorty vans origionally come with a trans crossmember? The previous owner of my van fabbed one out of angle iron to fit the maverick c4 and it's junk but have never been able to find out if they were used. Does one need to be made for a v8 swap?

They never made a trans crossmember that went unde r a trans. They only bolt on top. You will probally need to make one for underneath. I never seen any posted that someone has designed.
There was a fella here with a truck that had a V8 and trans swap. He made a god awful thing for the trans. It hung well below the truck. It looked like it would catch everything it drove over. |
Thanks for the info. That is EXACTLY what this guy did. Two vertical pieces of angle iron welded to a horizontal piece....its rediculous and it looks like it's gonna scrape speedbumps:) I'm new to owning an econo, so any tips you might have on 'em would be greatly appreciated.

You have a couple options:
1. Find a complete auto transmission from a 65-67 or at least the tailstock and shaft. That will interchange on another C4. 2. You could also find the same tranny and tailstock from a 69-74 and make your own tranny mount or by an aftermarket from someplace like summit. |
