1978 F250 Weight

I've got a 1978 F250 regular cab, long box 4x4, 351 and I need to haul it to a different state. I need to know how much it weighs so I can size a trailer to rent.

I've searched this forum and found some info on 1978 F150s, and it was reported to be about ~4000lbs. How much more would a F250 weigh?

I need to know how much the F250 weighs, but unfortunately the truck isn't running to take it to a scale.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Phil

Yup, 5800lbs is about right. Definitelly under 6000, unloaded.

I've used a 5000# capacity trailer before to move F250s arround. The only problem was the trailer sides were too narrow and even with skinny tires it just barelly fit.

I weighed my 78 F250 4x4 400 long bed reg cab the other day, I was getting a load of rock. With no occupants and a 3/4 tank of gas it was 5430. I have a truck box too filled with heavy stuff. Also, 35 tires and a spare.

how about an f150 4x4 without the engine transmission and transfer case? how wide does the trailer need to be?

Mine is right around 5000.
