big bronco finally

I finally got myslef a big bronco, drove to the annapolis valley yestarday and picked it up.
1990 XLT 302/auto 3:55 gears
in need of some tlc, hasn't been running in for awhile.
interior is in great shap only needing a cleaning.
the front clip needs some work, but I am thinking of changing it to the 92-96 style if I can find a good clip locally.
someone put wheel arch patches in it at one time and there are starting to show back through, otherwise its good and solid, floor and frame are great,as are the subrails.
I do need a good tailgate for one if anyone knows where there is one locally.

Congratulations Fred on your new BIG BRONCO

I don't know about changing the front clip because there were some subtle changes between the 90's and 92's and 93's there may be some fitment issues, I think the front of the hoods are a bit different too.

The great think though is no matter which way you choose to go it will be in a Big Bronco and in my world there is no better way to go.8D

Cheers,
Rick.

thanks rick,I'm very excited to finally get one,the entire front clip has to be changed, hood, fenders, rad support.I just bought all new parts for my 95 150,they were all getting a little rough with the exception of the hood.I can't lay the 95 up to remove these parts and fix and paint them so I just bought new to make a day out of replacing them.but once I get them all of I will sandblast and repair them for the bronco.I will just have to get a hood, lights, filler panel and grill.
I was actually just out wrenching on it at lunch getting the timming set,the po monkeyed alot up in the short period of time he had it,wouldn't start so he pulled the distributor and changed the modual, messed the timming and firing order up,all due to a bad fuel pump relay.he also was going to put a plow on it and had taken two bolts out of the steering box to mount the plates and couldn't get them back in,and removed the air box and overflow/washer res. to mount the controls to a piece of 2x6 screwed to the inner fender.all that is fixed now.some peoples kids are some smart.

Glad to see you're having fun.

It does give you that feeling of satisfaction in knowing your skill set can get the job done.

Keep us posted Fred on the progress.

BTW, is that 2x6 part a special order part or was it custom made?:-partybud

Nice, where did you find it?

northeaster79 11-25-2009 08:58 PM

hahaha rick thats an unknown.I'm guessing the local home improvment warehouse cut it for him, because the crayola swissors wouldn't do it.
I can't wait to get deeper into this project.I will keep you posted on how it goes.

I was wondering if you had grabbed the one for sale here in Greenwood but it isn't the same truck. Blue 92-96

northeaster79 11-26-2009 06:55 AM

I have looked at a few others, the deal was hard to pass up on this one,I more or less just traded a bunch of junk that was cluttering up my garage to get it,
I hope I will get more time to spend on it here in the new future, right now I'm just picking at it when I'm not busy.slow process.

hey i think i seen that one on our holidays this fall. is greenwood on the main highway through NS? if it weren't that one you speak of, there's one there somewhere along the highway, real nice shape...

Normmus 11-30-2009 08:15 PM

The one I am thinking of is on a side road deep in the Annapolis Valley.

northeaster79 12-07-2009 01:47 PM

there are some around, guy had one for sale in town here over the summer,it was an 89 or 90,came from florida,it was unbelievable.53000 miles on it and not one spot of rust on the original paint, the clear was peeling on the hood and roof but otherwise it was perfect.

northeaster79 12-10-2009 11:09 AM

got a little more done on the old bronco, the rest of the interior out except the front front piece of carpet because I can't get the damn seatbelt buckles out, those bolts are siezed solid,I and I now have the torx heads pretty well worn from trying to get them loose.I think I will cut the heads so I can get 11/16 socket on them and at least break them of or get some heat on them and get them out.
so far I haven't found any amount of rust, the only thing I think I will need to work on is the rear most body sill that the rear mounts sit on,its not rotten, just crusty looking.
