BFH, works for me

Loosen the lugnuts till they have about 1/8 gap behind them, and then run it up and down the driveway, turning and running sideways up a hill or ditch if you have to, till it breaks loose.
|
Bang on the rim with a hammer from the inside turn the tire 90 deg. bang on rim turn 90 deg. most likely stuck on centering hole.Be sure and block the truck so it don't fall on you..

Thanks guys. I thought of all these. It was too late for the big hammer. And I was a little gun shy of driving it to break it loose. I just wanted some other opinions.

I like the loosen nuts and drive it around a bit better.
A good spray with PB Blaster around the hub may also help. Hammer can cause bent wheels. |
i worked at a tire place years ago.when we ran into this problem,we used a heavy maul.-pounding outward.
it doesnt take much.just keep thumping, and spinning the tire till it brakes free, mind you, thats beating on the rubber.for the stubborn ones,we had no choice but to smack the rim.when we placed them on the balancer we never saw that we hurt them.but we took care to keep rotating the rim,not just pounding in a couple spots. not saying if it was right or wrong.just what we did. |
drive it them losse them them drive it in the driveway back and fourth

Stuck wheels
Back in the 70's, I worked at a company that made 35% of all the wheels & brakes in the US (Motor Wheel Corp). I think it was 1976, we had a recall on ALL Monte Carlo wheels because manufacturing "forgot" to size the hub-hole on about 100,000 wheels, and just about ALL 1976 Monte Carlos couldn't get their wheels off!
We had another recall because lugnuts were actually being drawn THRU the wheels if you used an air impact, but that's another story! This is the same company that invented the run-flat wheels for the HumVee. |
Franklin2 got it right! Loosen the lug nuts a little and drive it in a circle (slowly), it'll pop loose! The BFH method just messes up the rim (plus your knuckles) if your not careful.

wow i have never had one stuck more than just having to give it a kick to get it off

Some of the newer trucks with aluminum wheels, 99 to 03 of I remember right had that problem bad.
The center of the wheel would get a little oxidation where it came up on the hub center, pain in the rear to get off. |
yea those trucks daves talking about are horrible for this, even worse on some of the duallys of that year that i see. sometimes takes 3 times longer the get the wheel off then it does to change, balance, and reinstall new tires

Problem solved. I loosened the lugs and drove it. This caliper is fixed. Tomorrow I'll be working on the return lines and the injectors.
